Something for Everyone on Spring Cycling Camp

Our flagship Mallorca Spring Camp is always a fantastic fortnight of bike riding, beer drinking, cake eating and fun, and the 2019 camp was no exception. The weather was very kind to us and, during week one, gave us pretty much wall-to-wall sunshine and warmth every day. The wind which hit the whole of Europe in week two meant a slight change to the scheduled rides to avoid descents made dangerous by the strong gusts, but there wasn’t a single day on the trip where a ride didn’t head out across the beautiful roads of this fantastic island. Andy Cook Cycling prides itself of providing camps suited to all needs and abilities, and we certainly succeeded in our aim this year.

Once again, everyone’s camp experience began with a personal greeting at the airport from Kirsty Wareham. We believe that the best start to a trip like this is to have a reassuring and welcoming presence from the moment you step off the plane – especially for clients who have not tried a cycling camp before. After hours of travelling, the worry about your bike arriving safely, and an unfamiliar airport, we guarantee that from the minute you walk through the arrival doors at Palma, you will be taken care of.

Clients this year enjoyed several extras as part of their camp experience. As well as fully supported and led rides each day, there was also the chance to book sessions with our Sports Massage Therapist Georgie Barnett, hear the ride leaders talk about their life in cycling at the ‘Tales from the Team’ talk, take part in Yoga for Cyclists, shop for ex HIGH5/Wiggle Team kit and bikes at an exclusive opening of the Pros Hub shop in Port d’Pollenca and enjoy a special lunch at Tolos bar.

We’d like to thank everyone who joined us this March for making it a really special two weeks. We’re extremely grateful to our brilliant team of Ride Leaders – Simon, Mark, Paul, Richard, Ian, Scott, Tony, DaveJillian, Derek and Tom. and the other staff who make this camp work – Kirsty for getting everyone to and from the airport safely, and Lydia for her wonderful support out on the road. We’d also like to thank PortBlue Club Pollentia Resort and Spa for once again providing the perfect base, HIGH5 Sports Nutrition for their support to all the camp participants, Alé Cycling for our awesome new staff and client kit and to Continental Tyres for their continued support of Andy Cook Cycling.

Just wanted to thank you for such a great week. I thoroughly enjoyed it and Jacqui and Mark were fabulous guides! Hope the second week was as fun…and as sunny. JS

Just a quick note to say thank you to you guys and your team for accommodating Helen & I on your Mallorca Training Camp this past week. We had some great rides, smiles, laughs & cake (of course!) A&HB

As I discover my legs are truly blown after 758 miles, 47,000 ft+ of climbing and 48 hrs of riding I must once again say a massive thank you to you and the team for the guiding, the advice, the humour and everything else which just makes your camp work. The pick up by Kirsty and the drop off where you just know she’s got it. Lydia making everyone of us feel special – sneaking me energy powders. You have a great team. PW

I just wanted to say what a totally fab and awesome couple of weeks I had with you all in super sunny Mallorca! As always, the ACC crew worked tirelessly to look after us all, making sure we were all happy and safe, often going above and beyond the call of duty and exceeding our expectations. Having been part of the team on a number of events, I know how tough things can get behind the scenes, but as a customer, seeing it all running so smoothly and seamlessly makes me love and respect you all even more. This welcoming little island now feels like a second home, it’s like a big warm hug from the moment we arrive, to the moment we leave, it’s so good for the soul – thank you again for making it extra special. Please can you pass on my thanks to EVERYONE involved that made this year’s camp happen, I had an absolute blast! RS

As always we had a huge range of rider abilities and objectives but our Bike Camps are known for being inclusive not exclusive. You only have to love riding a bike in fantastic scenery to enjoy the two weeks in Mallorca. Our ride leaders set the perfect pace for whichever group they are looking after and each day has its own challenges from the long mountain rides to recovery days with plenty of cafe stops. Here’s an idea of what we got up to:

Saturday – Arrivals
Sunday – Petra via Campanet 115km or Petra 80km
Monday – Lluc & Sa Colobra 120km or Lluc 75km
Tuesday – Santa Maria/Valdemosa/Soller/Orient 150km or 100km option
Wednesday – Cap Formentor 55Km & Tollos Bar for lunch
Thursday –  Mountain Ride 150km or Bunyola/Binissalem 100km
Friday – Randa 160km or Binissalem 100km… and repeat!

PortBlue Club Pollentia Resort & Spa is a 4 star Hotel uniquely situated between Alcúdia old town and Port d’Pollenca with the stunning Port Pollença bay directly in front of the hotel and the S’Albufera Natural Park immediately behind the resort offering incredible views all round.. The staff have known us for 25 years and give us access to their best facilities on site. The close proximity to the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range and a variety of smooth cycling routes makes the hotel the best option for cyclists visiting Mallorca.
