Another year, another January spent in sunny Lanzarote. The 2019 Andy Cook Cycling Bike Weeks at Club La Santa proved that the island is the perfect place to train: Lanzarote boasts glorious weather and scenic roads, tough climbs and strong winds, as well as a purveysive atmosphere of sporting excellence.

Club La Santa itself is a heaven for all sporting-enthusiasts. With over 80 sports and activities to choose from within the resort, there isn’t a better place from which to run the Andy Cook Cycling Bike Weeks. Once again this year, Club La Santa and the Green Team staff were fantastic – helping the riders all day out on the roads, and leading post-ride stretching sessions.

The Andy Cook Cycling team – Andy, Jacqui, Mark, Ian, Phil and Tim – took up to 50 riders of all levels and abilities out each day, over the mountains and through the picturesque villages of the island.

There were plenty of coffee and cake stops along the way for our hard-working riders – San Bartolomé bakery and JonnieBakes in Teguise were particular favourites, as was a cafe in Guatiza where the group was treated to a magic show, as well as lovely coffee!

It was a fantastic two weeks of cycling, with nearly 1000 miles ridden over the two weeks. Here’s some of the lovely feedback we’ve had about the camp:

A fantastic week.
Learn to cycle in a group

Cover 100 miles in a day

Learn about drafting

Learn the front can be tough

As a complete novice I’ve had the best time, thank you so much for giving me the confidence to go home with new skills.
A million thank yous, see you next year!

If you like cycling I can’t think of anything better to do when it’s deep winter and you want to get some miles in enjoying a temperate climate and some sunshine.

Just a brief note to thank you for a top cycling holiday. Great group, routes and leaders. I shall be back next year.

Mallorca Bike Camp

If you like the look of this camp, and want to join in next year – the resort gets booked up very quickly, so it would be advisable to book as soon as you can. Next year’s Bike Weeks will be 3rd-9th and 10th-16th January 2020.

In our spare time, we voluntarily organise and run races in our capacity as Chippenham Wheelers club members. These are not Andy Cook Cycling events, but you will see a lot of #teamacc helping out. We do it for the love of the sport, and to see what we love best - lots of people of all ages riding their bikes with smiles on their faces. This year’s #easterclassic was a fab day out at Castle Combe in the sunshine, and it was awesome seeing so many people out racing! 📸 Graham Lacey #castlecombeeasterclassic #goodfridayracing #chippenhamwheelersTo celebrate the launch of their mini but mighty tasty Energy Gummies, @high5sportsnutrition are giving 20 people the chance to win a HIGH5 Energy Gummies Bundle. A huge supporter of the Andy Cook Cycling team and our Mallorca Bike Camps, and most importantly, a great friend to many of us here. We are sure he is smiling down at us as we pedal around the island today.
