London Revolution & Ride across Britain

London Revolution & Ride across Britain

Many of you will be aware of Andy Cook Cycling’s involvement with these two prestigious events organised by Threshold Sports. We have worked closely with Threshold for nearly three years helping provide technical advice and support delivering the cycling aspects of these events. We have identified safe scenic routes and helped to provide training plans, advice and weekends aimed at encouraging others to experience the same joys and pleasure that we have over so many years involvement with this wonderful sport and pastime of ours. Without doubt the “end to end” is one one of my most treasured cycling achievements and completing it with so many other like minded people is a fantastic experience.

This year Threshold have introduced a new event to their portfolio, the London Revolution, which is in all intents and purposes a “mini RAB”. The route takes in North London and ends up for an overnight stay at Windsor racecourse after 100 miles of mostly quiet lanes and picturesque villages. No doubt the days experiences will be relived over a few drinks in the evening prior to the final 85 mile stage taking in the legendary Box Hill, and the opportunity to ride around Herne Hill velodrome, scene of the 1948 Olympic track cycling, before crossing Tower Bridge to finish at the start location adjacent to Excel in the East end of London.

Here is some further information regarding these two great events that are selling out fast:

Deloitte Ride Across Britain: 8th – 16th September, 2012

There are some cycling challenges where it is not a case of if you will do them, but when you will. Many people think about doing Land’s End to John O’Groats but if you are serious about your cycling and don’t want to be laden with all your kit then there is really only one event out there: Deloitte Ride Across Britain.Taking in some of the best climbs and roads in the country from the highlands to the Cornish coastline, Deloitte RAB is the ultimate UK cycling challenge. 960 miles in 9 days is no mean feat, but Threshold Sports look after everything from full mechanical support through to massages at the end of the day. There are under 50 places left out of the 700 places available for 2012, and so if you are interested on joining me and the team at Threshold from 8th to the 16th September then make sure you register at www.rideacrossbritain.com soon.

London Revolution: 19th-20th May, 2012

For those of you who are looking for something a little easier, then there is also the London Revolution. A brand new event for Olympic year, it is a 2 day, 180 mile loop right around London. It takes in some of London’s most scenic and iconic landmarks such as Tower Bridge, the Chilterns, the North Downs and even a few Olympic sites like a climb up the newly resurfaced Box Hill and laps of the 1948 velodrome at Herne Hill. Whether you choose to ride one of the 2 days or ride both and stay overnight for the camping and party we hope you can make it down for what is going to be a fantastic weekend on the bikes.
