In February 2019, a small group of the Andy Cook Cycling team took a trip to Mallorca. A pretty standard event for these guys – considering ACC now offers four bike camps in Mallorca so the team are becoming regulars on the island. However, this visit was a little different. For starters, it was an actual holiday for the team – there were no clients to look after, no briefings to run, nobody to collect from the airport… it was a simple break just before the beginning of a busy forthcoming events season.
The other aspect that made this trip a little different was the fact that the group were the first guests of the season in a new boutique hotel in Old Town Alcudia. The Hotel Can Mostatxins only opened in 2018, and after a successful first year as Old Town Alcudia’s only 4* hotel, they invited Andy Cook Cycling to stay and see what their beautiful hotel could offer to cyclists visiting Mallorca.
The answer is – a lot! The Hotel Can Mostatxins is an idyll, hidden away in a quiet back street of the stunning Old Town on the north of the island of Mallorca. Situated within two buildings – one of which hails from the 15th Century, it offers unique, lovingly-restored rooms, an underground spa, a bar and restaurant, outdoor patio with plunge pool and – most importantly – a separate secure storage area for bikes.

We’ve visited Mallorca many times but not stayed in Old Town Alcudia however it soon became apparent Hotel Can Mostatxins was a very special place and would go on to become the highlight of all our trips. We received the warmest of welcomes from staff who were attentive and friendly throughout our stay. Buildings have been lovingly renovated and restored to a very high standard with stunning features. The spa and jacuzzi area like no other – you have to see it to believe it! Superb breakfast all cooked to order with a variety of quality local produce on offer. We sampled the taster menu all for an incredible €35 and were so wowed by the flavours and creativity designed by their Michelin Star chef the first night we booked again for our final night. We simply cannot fault this spectacular hotel. Please pass on our huge thanks to everyone at Hotel Can Mostatxins who made our stay so very special. We can’t wait to come back!
Having spent many a night on the island of Mallorca, none of my previous hotel or apartment Accommodation have been a patch on the wonderful boutique hotel in delightful old town Alcudia.
All of the team, hotel managers, waiting staff, receptionists, night manager, bar man were genuinely friendly, work as a closely knit team, and clearly take great pride in their place of work.
Breakfast was divine, with an array of cold cuts, pastry’s, fruit, and bread, and a choice of scrambled egg (with Salmon or Serrano), poached egg, French omelette, or full English, but refined. Very refined.
Dinner was an absolute bargain – a 6 course Michelin quality taster menu from a chef who clearly knows great taste, and for a bargain price of €35. The restaurant is worth a visit on it’s own regardless of whether your lucky enough to be staying.
Another total highlight was the jacuzzi/spa area which appeared to be hewn from the solid rock foundations of this magnificent 15th century home. Spectacular is a word often used, but completely apt for this welcoming space.
Overall, I would thoroughly recommend this Can Mostatxins as a truly wonderful place to stay.
On staying, last week for 4 nights on a quick trip with a few friends, found the hotel to be pristine. The quality of the hotel pales into insignificance though compared to the staff, they are all so friendly and took time out to chat and look after our every need. The food in the hotel was astoundingly good – it doesn’t get much better than this. Will definitely be back again!
