Castle Combe Tuesdays – pending start date for 2020

Castle Combe Tuesday Night Cycling Sessions were due to start on Tuesday 14th April. Due to the current health crisis, the sessions are postponed until further notice. The reasons for not starting the sessions are as follows, and all relate to the coronavirus pandemic:

1. Castle Combe Circuit is not open to the public at present.
2. British Cycling (of which the Castle Combe Cycling Organisation is an affiliated club) has placed restrictions on all cycling events. These restrictions are due to be reassessed on June 30th.
3. Andy Cook Cycling does not want to go against government advice on social distancing. Although one may argue that cycling around Castle Combe could be considered part of one’s allocated daily exercise, there is neither the space nor are there the facilities at the circuit to ensure all 2000+ riders who have membership to ride on Tuesday nights can possibly keep the required distance from each other at all times. The journey by car that most people take to reach Castle Combe also does not class as essential travel.

To be informed when the sessions will begin again, register for a membership here. Membership for the year is £3 (£1 for under 18’s) and by registering you will automatically be added to the list of people we will contact with more information about when the sessions will restart. Your details will not be added to any other mailing list. If the sessions can’t start again until 2021, we will make sure we roll over the membership so noone who has paid in 2020 has to pay again!

We really hope we will be able to see you all again at Castle Combe before the summer is over, but in the meantime stay safe and stay well, and keep cycling (safely) if you can.
